Rod Stewart signed this contract with Edwin Shirley Trucking Ltd. to
transport equipment for a 1983 concert.
Contract signed "Rod Stewart" and initialed "RS" eight
times in black ink and "Edwin A. Shirley" and initialed "EAS"
eight times in blue ink. With blue ink notations in unknown hand. 9 pages,
8¼x11½. No place, no date but 1983. Contract between Stewart and Edwin
Shirley Trucking Ltd., in part: "...Edwin Shirley Trucking agrees to
provide the equipment, personnel and facilities...in connection with the
concert performing tour of the group professionally known as Rod Stewart for
the period beginning 3 June 1983 and ending 19 July 1983." Stewart,
born Roderick David Stewart in London, Great Britain in 1945, was once
rock & roll's best interpretive singer, as well as an accomplished
songwriter, creating a raw combination of folk, rock, blues and country that
sounded like no other folk-rock or country-rock. In 1971 his third solo album,
Every Picture Tells a Story, made Stewart a household name, reaching
number one in both the U.S. and Britain. Supported by the number one single
Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?, Blondes Have More Fun (1978) became
Stewart's first number one album since Every Picture Tells a
Story, selling over four million copies. By this time, he was
notorious for his jet-set lifestyle, particularly the series of actresses and
models he dated. This contract has been photocopied from a book or folder
then used as an original. The signatures are all originals. Lightlytoned and creased.Ink notations touch signature. Two binder holes at
left edge. Reproduced tractor feed holes on five pages. Photocopy marks. Two
punch holes at left blank margin. Otherwise in fine condition.
