ROD TAYLOR
The actor penned his signature on this handwritten letter regarding his film Young Cassidy
Autograph Letter Signed: "Sincerely/Rod Taylor", ¾p, 8½x11. Beverly Hills, California, September 11, 1984. On letterhead of Rodlor Productions, Inc. to Todd M. Axelrod, Las Vegas, Nevada. In Full: "I thought his more interesting than the better known commercial movies I have made because of John Ford and the quite incredible cast list. Best of Luck & continued success with your very worthwhile exhibits" Taylor is speaking about his 1965 film Young Cassidy, which is based on the autobiographical writings of Irish author/playwright Sean O'Casey. Directed by John Ford and Jack Cardiff (who took over after Ford became ill), the film's impressive cast also includes Julie Christie, Edith Evans, Michael Redgrave and Maggie Smith as well as Taylor in the title role. Rod Taylor (1930-2015) made his film debut in the Australian film The Stuart Exposition (1951) and his Hollywood debut in The Virgin Queen (1955). His long list of feature films includes Giant (1956), Separate Tables (1958), The Time Machine (1960), and The Birds and A Gathering of Eagles (both 1963). Taylor also appeared in a number of television movies and several series, including Hong Kong (1961), The Oregon Trail (1975), and Outlaws (1986). He starred in the Australian comedy Welcome to Woop Woop (1997), and, in his final screen role, played Winston Churchill in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds (2009). Lightly creased. Light circular stain at upper left blank corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
