Photograph signed: "Best Wishes/Rod Taylor". B/w, 8x10. Publicity photograph for the 1965
film, Young Cassidy, which starred Taylor in the title role. Based on the autobiographical
writings of Irish author/playwright Sean O'Casey, the film was directed by John Ford and
Jack Cardiff (who took over directing duties after Ford became ill) and also starred Julie
Christie, Edith Evans, Michael Redgrave and Maggie Smith. Rod Taylor (1930-2015) made
his film debut in the Australian film The Stuart Exposition (1951) and his Hollywood debut
in The Virgin Queen (1955). His long list of feature films includes Giant (1956), Separate
Tables (1958), The Time Machine (1960), and The Birds and A Gathering of Eagles
(both 1963). Taylor also appeared in a number of television movies and several series,
including Hong Kong (1961), The Oregon Trail (1975), and Outlaws (1986). He starred in
the Australian comedy Welcome to Woop Woop (1997), and, in his final screen role, played
Winston Churchill in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds (2009). Mimeographed
caption on verso (no show through). Lightly creased at blank margins. Minor surface creases
(most not evident head on). Slightly soiled at upper right edge, black mark at lower right
corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
