ROGER CLEMENS and DEBBIE CLEMENS
The 7-time Cy Young Award winner and his wife sign the book he wrote about his life from childhood through his M.V.P. season.
Book inscribed and signed: "To Mary -/Best Always/M.V.P./Roger Clemens/Cy Young", 161 p, 6¼x9¼. Signed on half title page. Also signed: "Debbie Clemens" on flyleaf. Rocket Man: the Roger Clemens Story, by Roger Clemens with Peter Gammons. Lexington, Massachusetts: The Stephen Greene Press, 1987. Hardcover, with dust jacket. ROGER CLEMENS (b. 1962), playing in his 24th Major League Season in 2007, has won an unprecedented seven Cy Young Awards, three with the Boston Red Sox (1986, 1987, 1991), two with the Toronto Blue Jays (1997, 1998), and one each with the New York Yankees (2001) and Houston Astros (2004). The first (and second) player to strike out twenty batters in a 9-inning game, he ranks second all time in career strikeouts. The New York Yankees, struggling early in the 2007 season, lured the fit 44-year-old out of retirement for another season. This book, co-written with famed Boston sportswriter Peter Gammons, tells the story of Clemens personal as well as baseball life through his stunning 1986 season, in which he won both the American League Cy Young and Most Valuable Player awards and carried the Red Sox to an AL pennant and the seventh game of the World Series. DEBBIE CLEMENS has been married to Roger since 1984. They have four children; the birth of the first is retold in this book. Debbie designs clothing and is active in charity work. Dust jacket slightly soiled. Fine condition.
