Signed 5x7 photo of the renowned film critic posing in a decorated

Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Sam Dixon/Roger Ebert"
B/w 5x7. Beginning his career with the "Chicago Sun-Times" in 1967, Roger
Ebert (1942-2013) would become the first critic to receive the Pulitzer
Prize for Criticism in 1975. Ebert is widely renowned for his TV work,
Siskel & Ebert & the Movies where he and co-host Gene
Siskel (1946-1999), coined the popular term "Two Thumbs Up" (which
lead Ebert to trademark his right thumb) to signify their shared opinions of a
film. Following Siskel's death, Ebert continued to host the show alongside a
multitude of guest hosts until Richard Roeper took residence in 2000, making it
Ebert & Roeper & the Movies (one of many name changes).
Ebert also started his own annual film festival called EberFest (1999),
which was dedicated to providing overlooked films with proper recognition. In
addition to his success on screen, Ebert has published over 20 books, dozens of
collections of reviews, and has had his columns syndicated to more than 200
newspapers in the US and abroad. He is also the first film critic to be awarded
a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (2005). Ebert was diagnosed with
papillary thyroid cancer (2002), and after having multiple surgeries and
treatments, Roger Ebert tragically lost his 11 year battle with cancer in 2013.
