ROGER GRIMSBY
Black and white photograph of the Emmy Award winning news anchor, signing with his closing line: "I hope your news is good news"
Inscribed photograph signed: "Eddie+/Betty/I hope your news is good news Roger Grimsby", in blue ink, B/w 10x8. Roger Grimsby (1928-1995) was an American journalist and news anchor, often considered one of the pioneers of broadcasting. First beginning his interest in broadcasting while serving in the Army and working with the Armed Forces Radio Service, Grimsby returned home to work as an announcer for WEBC Radio, and shortly after began working for various television stations. It was during his time with WABC-TV that Grimsby won six Emmy Awards, popular and well respected for his style and dry, off-the-cuff humor. He was such a popular figure that he was often parodied in media, and played himself or a parody of himself in several films. Corners slightly worn. Light surface creases and surface striations (not seen head on). Ink stamp and pencil note (unknown hand) on verso. Fine condition.
