The actor signs this typed note in blue ink, dated in 1979.
Typed note signed: "18th. Feb. 1979/I hope that this is
acceptable. So/pleased that you enjoyed 'The Father.'/Thank you very much for
writing./With best wishes/Roger Hume " in blue ink, 5½x3½ card. Roger
Hume (1940-1996) was an English screen and radio actor, best known to
audiences as Bert Fry on The Archers--London's longest running radio
serial. Born the son of George Hume, manager of the Shakespeare Memorial
Theatre, Hume began his career as an assistant stage manager at the Wimbledon
Theatre. He later performed the same role behind the scenes on the musical
Oliver! (1960) at its original West End production at New Theatre. On
screen he made his debut in an uncredited role on The Offence in 1972,
later appearing in Nearest and Dearest (1973), God's Wonderful
Railway (1980), and A Fish Called Wanda (1988). Into the 1990's Hume
continued to take up television roles, his last being in the TV movie
Interview Day (1996). Fine condition.
