The U.S. congressman pens his name on this 3½x2 card
Signature: “Rolland Redlin/ North Dakota”, in black ink, 3½x2. Rolland Redlin (1920-2011)
was a U.S. congressman from North Dakota who served in the 89th Congress, but was
not reelected. During his tenure in the House he was a war on hunger consultant, and involved
with the Agency for International Development. He voted to pass the 1965 Voting Rights
Act, which he considers to be his greatest accomplishment while serving in Congress.
Although his time in the U.S. House was brief, Redlin was a member of the North Dakota
Senate for many years (1959-1963, 1973-2000). While he was serving in the North Dakota
Senate, he functioned as Senate President Pro Tempore from 1987 to 1989. Ink smudged in
places, but signature is still legible. Ink mark in lower right-hand corner. Lightly toned.
Otherwise, fine condition.
