The Los Angeles Dodgers batter gets ready to take off after making contact on this signed
baseball card
Sports Card signed: "Ron Cey". Color, 2½x3½. Topps card #50 for 1977. Career bio on verso.
Ron Cey (b. 1948) played 17 seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers (1971-1982), Chicago
Cubs (1983-1986) and Oakland A's (1987). The six-time All Star third baseman was
nicknamed “Penguin” due to his stocky build, short legs, and choppy running style. His
string of 11 seasons with 20 or more homers was interrupted by the players' strike in 1981 and
a late-season broken arm. He returned in time to play in the 1981 World Series, where he
shared MVP honors with teammates Pedro Guerrero and Steve Yeager in the
championship matchup. The Dodgers beat the Yankees in six games to win.Today, he
remains associated with the Dodgers organization and regularly attends fan events. Lightly
worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
