Actor writes to John Willis, editor of Theatre World, congratulating him on a great
awards program
Autograph Letter Signed: "Ron Randell" in black ink. 1 page, 6x8. June 23, 1985. In full:
"Dear Mr. Willis, Some week's ago I attended your Theatre World Awards Party. I was very
impressed with the way you handled it and enjoyed the whole presentation. Thank you for
inviting me, I felt proud to be a part of New York Acting community. Yours sincerely". Ron
Randell (1918-2005, born in Sydney, Australia) played starring roles in the late 1940s
(Smithy, 1946, and two title appearance in Bulldog Drummond films, 1947) and
supporting roles thereafter. His films include Lorna Doone (1951), Kiss Me Kate (as
Cole Porter, 1953), King of Kings (1961) and The Longest Day (1962). Randell boasted
Broadway credits over nearly half a century. He made many TV guest appearances through the
1970s, and was engaged to Amanda Blake of Gunsmoke fame in the early fifties. Normal
mailing fold. Deep crease in bottom left corner. Edges frayed. Light surface creases. Otherwise,
fine condition.
