RONALD COLMAN
Handwritten note to radio/TV interview host George Sanders
Autograph Note signed: "To George/Best Wishes/Ronald Colman", 7¾x10. Newspaper clipping and photo, B/w, 3½x1¼ overall, image 1x1 (one surface) affixed below signature. On verso is another inscription: "To George -/Thank you very much/Bill Sellman", with b/w, 3x4 photo below signature. English actor Ronald Colman (1891-1958) began his film career in silent films, mainly costume epics, of the late 1920s, but achieved greater fame when talkies featured his fine voice in such films as Bulldog Drummond (1929), A Tale of Two Cities (1935) and Lost Horizon (1937). After three prior nominations, he earned a Best Actor Oscar for A Double Life (1947). No information is available about Sellman. George Sanders, a radio and television interview host in Los Angeles, and later in Portland, collected autographs from guests on his show. Tan area in upper right (3½x1¼) from clipping no longer present. Ink note (unknown hand) in lower right corner. Inscription and photo on verso show through, touching signature.
