ROSALIND RUSSELL, LORETTA YOUNG and DOROTHY BUNDY
Two of Hollywood's favorite leading ladies, Russell and Young, autograph this album leaf. Tennis star Bundy also signs on the verso. 3 signatures total.
Signatures: "Rosalind/Russell" and on verso: "Loretta Young" and "Dorothy/Bundy", 6x4½ album leaf. Nominated for Best Actress Academy Awards for My Sister Eileen (1942), Sister Kenny (1946), Mourning Becomes Electra (1947) and Auntie Mame (1958), the beautiful and stylish ROSALIND RUSSELL (1908-1976) shone in romantic comedies. She was frequently cast as an efficient career girl who traded witticisms with her leading men, appearing in such films as His Girl Friday (1940) and Take a Letter Darling (1942). In 1972, she received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, a special Oscar. LORETTA YOUNG (1913-2000) appeared in films as a child extra from age 4. Growing up in silent movies, she had become an established star by the 1930s. She won an Oscar as Best Actress for The Farmer's Daughter (1947) and was nominated for the same award for Come to the Stable (1949). Young hosted a TV teleplay, The Loretta Young Show (1953-1961); she appeared in about half of the show's episodes, winning three Emmy Awards. DOROTHY BUNDY (1916- ) is most probably tennis ace Dorothy Bundy Cheney who was the first American woman to win the Australian National Championships in 1938. Cheney, competing in tennis events for eight decades, currently holds the record for the most United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Senior titles - over 300 - and has won over 20 Senior Grand Slam titles, another USTA record. Smudged ink notes at Russell's signature (unknown hand). File holes at left edge. Overall, fine condition.
