Document signed: "Rosalind Russell". 1p, 8½x11. Los Angeles, California, 1942 August 17. Letter agreement between RKO Radio Pictures, Inc. and Russell. In full: "This will supplement our agreement with you dated August 17, 1942 executed concurrently herewith, which may herein be referred to as the 'Employment Agreement'. It is agreed that the minimum compensation payable pursuant to Article 2 of our agreement in connection with each Picture shall entitle us to ten (10) consecutive weeks, except as otherwise provided in said Employment Agreement, of your services in connection with each Picture, and that we shall not be obligated to pay you any compensation during the period of two (2) weeks following the minimum period of employment of eight (8) weeks provided for in said Article 2. After the expiration of such period of ten (10) weeks the compensation shall be at the rate of Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00) a week instead of Eighteen Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty Dollars ($18,750.00) a week as provided in the Employment Agreement, both with respect to your services in principal photography and with respect to your services as described in the second (2nd) paragraph of Article 7 of the Employment Agreement." Nominated for Best Actress Academy Awards for My Sister Eileen (1942), Sister Kenny (1946), Mourning Becomes Electra (1947) and Auntie Mame (1958), the beautiful and stylish Rosalind Russell(1908-1976)shone in romantic comedies. She was frequently cast as an efficient career girl who traded witticisms with her leading men, appearing in such films as His Girl Friday (1940) and Take a Letter Darling (1942). Known for her charity work, Russell received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 1972, a special Oscar. Lightly creased. Staple holes at top margin. Overall, fine condition.
