ROSE ALBERT PORTER
The author and playwright pens a letter requesting that the recipient send her copies of
particular works
Autograph Letter signed: “Rose Porter”, in black ink, 1p, 4½x6¾. She writes requesting copies
of what could be her own writings. However, the handwriting is difficult to decipher, so
exactly what she might have needed or wanted is unclear. Rose Albert Porter (1903-?) was an
author and playwright best known for her play Chrysalis, which enjoyed a run on
Broadway in 1932. She was known to write at night, while during the day she held down a
number of odd jobs including working as a phone operator, at Emergency Relief stations, and
even as a monitor at children's camps. Lightly toned. Adhesive remnants on verso. Pencil note
on verso in an unknown hand. Edges lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
