ROSE HOBART
Publicity photo of the actress, Inscribed in person to collector Saul
Goodman
Inscribed photograph signed "To Saul/Rose Hobart". B/w 8x10.
Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature: March 6, 1935. Hobart
(1906-2000, born Rose Kefer in New York City) moved from a starring stage
role in Death Takes a Holiday (1929) to a film debut in Liliom
the next year. In Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931), she played
Jekyll's fiancé. She was often cast as "the other woman," as in Bride
of Vengeance (1949). Blacklisted in the 1950s, she returned for
several TV guest appearances in the late 1960s. Saul Goodman (1919-2003),
a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the
evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers
offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity
then, to sign in fountain pen. Corners worn and creased. Lightly toned
around edges. Otherwise, Fine condition.
