ROSE MURPHY
The jazz artist pens a sentiment, adding her nickname "Chee Chee" to her signature
Autograph Sentiment signed: "Lots of Cheer/Sincerely/Rose Murphy/Chee Chee", 4¼x4. Rose Murphy (1913-1989) was an American jazz and pop singer and pianist with a high-pitched squeaky voice and a keyboard style that fully complemented her singing. She often incorporated odd sounds into her scat style vocals, earning the nickname "the chee chee girl." Murphy became popular in the United Kingdom during 1948 after frequent play there of her single "Busy Line". Her recording of "Pennies from Heaven" was used in the soundtrack of the award winning film The Artist (2011). She continued to touring and appearing in top clubs until shortly before her death. Irregularly cut at edges. Slightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
