ROSEANNE BARR
A letter from the Emmy Award winning actress to comedienne Phyllis Diller, thanking her for her contribution to a charity auction
Typed Letter signed: "Roseanne", 1p, 7x10. No place, 1999 May 18. On personal letterhead to actress/comedienne Phyllis Diller. In full: "A quick note to say thank you for generously donating your beautiful bird hat to my 'First Annual Celebrity Garage Sale for Charity'. It was really a unique and personal item, and everyone just loved it. It was a kind of a circus taping a TV show in the middle of a garage sale, but a fun one. You helped us raise over $20,000 in an afternoon. All the money is already in the hands of 'Children of the Night', and the charity sale continues at 'wcollect.com.' I plan to do this again in an even bigger way in the fall. I hope you'll be part of it again. Once again, thank you for helping with a good show for a great cause. Continued success and blessings to you. Kindest regards". Accompanied by matching envelope addressed (unknown hand) to Diller, postmarked Los Angeles, May 19, 1999. Rosanne Barr (born in 1952), who is also known simply as Roseanne, starred in the popular TV sitcom, Roseanne, from 1988-1997. She has also made innumerable other appearances on TV on both talk shows and as a guest star on other series, and Roseanne has appeared in a number of made-for-TV movies and feature films, including She-Devil (1989), Look Who's Talking Too (1990, voice), Blue in the Face (1990) and Home on the Range (2004, voice). She has won four American Comedy Awards and an Emmy Award (nominated for the latter five additional times). Thrice married and divorced (her husbands include second husband, Tom Arnold, to whom she was married from 1990-1994), Roseanne has often attracted controversy, as in her clowning during a pre-game performance of the national anthem. Envelope address inked out and forwarded. TLS has minor ink transfer. Otherwise, fine condition.
