ROSEANNE TV CAST: ROSEANNE BARR, JOHN GOODMAN
B/w cast photo of Roseanne signed by Barr and Goodman, heads of
the Conner family
Photograph signed "Roseanne" by Barrand "John
Goodman". 10x7¾ overall, 9¼x6¼ image, one surface. Roseanne, which
ran from 1988 to 1997, was the first sitcom since I Love Lucy centered on
the mother of the family instead of the father. But the similarities between the
two ended there. The Conner family in Roseanne was middle class and
blue-collar and was depicted with honesty and brassiness rarely seen on TV and
dealt with real-life issues, like poverty, domestic violence and the budding
sexuality of the family's children. The show earned an armful of Emmy
nominations for its actors and crew, culminating in back-to-back Emmy Awards
between 1992 and 1994 for Laurie Metcalf, who played Roseanne Conner's sister
Jackie Harris, and a 1993 Best Actress win for Roseanne Barr. BARR, born
Salt Lake City in 1952, is also known simply as Roseanne and starred in the
popular TV sitcom Roseanne from 1988 to 1997. She has also made
innumerable other appearances on TV on both talk shows and as a guest star on
other series and has appeared in a number of made-for-TV movies and feature
films, including She-Devil (1989), Look Who's Talking Too
(1990, voice), Blue in the Face (1990) and Home on the Range
(2004, voice). She has won four American Comedy Awards and an Emmy Award
(nominated for the latter five additional times). Thrice married and divorced
(her husbands include second husband, Tom Arnold, to whom she was married
from 1990 to 1994), Roseanne has often attracted controversy, as in her
clowning during a pre-game performance of the national anthem. Stage, screen and
television actor GOODMAN, born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1952, is best
known to television audiences for his role as Dan Conner on the TV sitcom,
Roseanne (1998-1997), for which he won a Golden Globe in 1993
and was nominated for three Golden Globes (1989, 1990, 1991), seven
Emmy Awards (1989-1995) and a SAG Award (1995). He would later
star in four other series, Now and Again (1999-2000), Normal,
Ohio (2000), Father of the Pride (voice, 2004-2005) and Center of
the Universe (2004-2005). Both a character actor and a leading man in
feature films as well, Goodman's big screen credits include Raising
Arizona (1987), Sea of Love (1989), Barton Fink (1991), The
Flintstones (1994), Blues Brothers 2000 (1998), The Big
Lebowski (1998), Bringing Out the Dead (1999), O Brother, Where
Art Thou? (2000), Coyote Ugly (2000) and Beyond the Sea
(2004), and he has also lent his voice talents to The Emperor's New
Groove (2000) and The Jungle Book 2 (2003). Goodman has also
appeared on Broadway, including a role as a member of the original cast
of the 1985 musical, Big River. Lightly bowed. Errors on negative were
reproduced on photo. Otherwise in fine condition.
