Check no. 101 for $33.14, made out to Bergdorf Goodman and drawn on the Purvises' account at Guaranty Bank & Trust Company in Florence, South Carolina. Roseanne Willcox Purvis was the wife of Melvin H. Purvis, who led teams of FBI agents that killed bank robbers John Dillinger and Charles "Pretty Boy" Floyd in 1934. She married Melvin three years before he made national headlines with the killings, in 1931. Lightly toned and creased. Normal bank stamps and cancellation holes; show-through from verso touches signature. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
