ROSEMARY CLOONEY
Inscribed photo, thanking a co-worker for "being so sweet to Rosie"
Photograph inscribed and signed (in text): "Thanks/Dominick/for being/so sweet/to Rosie". B/w, 8x10. Rosemary Clooney (1928-2002) scored her first big hit, "Come On'a My House," in 1951, reprising it in her first film, The Stars are Singing (1952). A string of 1950s pop hits followed, including "Tenderly", "Hey There" and "This Old House". Paramount hoped to turn Clooney into a movie star, but she grew weary of Hollywood. She had her own TV show for two seasons (1956-1958). She later launched a whole new career on the concert stage as a jazz vocalist. Her friend Bing Crosby, with whom she toured and appeared in TV specials, aided her comeback in the 1970s. Clooney was nominated for an Emmy for a guest appearance on ER (1995), alongside her nephew, actor George Clooney. Rosemary Clooney received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002. She published two autobiographies. ¼" notch at right edge 3" from lower corner. ½" vertical tear at top edge 1½" from right corner. Minor surface creases, most not visible head-on. Otherwise, fine condition.
