ROSEMARY CLOONEY
Rosemary Clooney signs a document with Bing Crosby Enterprises, Inc.
Document signed: "Rosemary Clooney", 3p, 8½x11. Signed on last page. Beverly Hills, California, 1953 February 19. Contract between Bing Crosby Enterprises, Inc. and Clooney "for her services in connection with...a radio program of one-half hour's duration featuring Harry L. Crosby, Jr. to be recorded in Palm Springs, California...February 25, 1953...." In 1949, Clooney was signed to a solo record contract by Columbia musical director Mitch Miller. Two years later, she scored her first hit, the Ross Bagdasarian novelty song "Come On'a My House," which she reprised in her first film, The Stars are Singing (1952). Paramount hoped to turn Clooney into a movie star, but she grew weary of Hollywood. Concentrating on television, Clooney headlined several network series, and also starred in her own 39-week syndicated variety show in 1955, which was distinguished by its offbeat guest-star lineup. She later launched a whole new career on the concert stage as a jazz vocalist. Staple holes and paperclip impressions in upper left. Pencil note (unknown hand) at bottom right of first page. Horizontal fold touches "R" and "C" of signature. Overall, fine condition.
