Signature: "R.G. Horr/East-Saginaw/Mich.", 3¾x2. Roswell Gilbert Horr (1830-1896) was an American politician from Michigan who served as Congressman from 1879 to 1891. Originally from Waitsfield, Vermont, Horr lived in Ohio as a law man before moving to Missouri where he had a brief stint as a minor. After relocating to East Saginaw, Michigan in 1872, Horr established a law practice as was soon elected to Congress. A Republican, he served as Delegate to the party's National Convention in 1884. Following his term in office, Horr moved to New York City where he became associate editor of the New York Tribune. Lightly toned. Ink smudge in second "r" of "Horr". Pencil notes (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
