Miss Bemminger: The above's about as food a picture of me as any. It will have
to do for the moment. I have asked my secretary to send you a better, but I'll
not be able to sign it. My best Greetings", in pencil. Finney
(1907-1997), an American composer and music teacher, received the 1927 Pulitzer
Prize for his "First String Quartet". Other awards followed, including two
Guggenheim fellowships, the Boston Symphony Award, the Brandeis Medal and
election to both the National Institute of Arts and Letters and the American
Academy of Arts and Sciences. Finney's works include eight string quartets,
four symphonies, numerous chamber works and song cycles, two stage works and an
unfinished opera, A Computer Marriage. Lightly creased. Fine
