ROSS MARTIN The actor who starred in the 1965 film The Great Race signed this check to the IRS in 1977 Check signed: "Ross Martin" in black ink, 8½x3½. August 15, 1977. Check no. 7997, drawn on Ross and Olavee Martin's business account. C/o Alexander Tucker at City National Bank of Beverly Hills. Made payable to the Internal Revenue Service in the amount of $12.29. Polish-born Ross Martin (1920-1981) received an M.A. in psychometrics and a law degree before forming half of a comedy team known as Ross & West. In the 1950s, he became a regular on charades-like game shows where he had the chance to show off his sharp mind and acting skills. He finally found his niche as TV's "man of a thousand faces" -- Secret Service agent Artemus Gordon -- on the humorous cult spy spoof/western/science fiction series The Wild, Wild West (1965-1969). Throughout the show he used multiple disguises and adopted accents in almost every episode. Regular bank stamps and perforations. Staple holes in top left corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
