ROWAN & MARTIN: DAN ROWAN and DICK MARTIN
The former hosts of the zany TV series, Laugh-In, contract to appear on the TV special, The Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World of the Super Bowl.
Photocopied Typed DS: "Dick Martin" and "Dan Rowan" in ink as Performers, 1p, 8½x11. Beverly Hills, California, 1976 December 14. Contract between Dan Rowan and Dick Martin and Antoinette Productions, Inc. for the comic duo to appear on The Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World of the Super Bowl. Headed: "Standard AFTRA Engagement Contract for Single Television Broadcast/and for Multiple Television Broadcasts Within One Calendar Week". Rowan and Martin contract to appear on the program, whose "Final Performance Day" is listed as January 8, 1977, as guest stars for $5,000. The compensation was originally typed as $5,000 for each of them, but their names and the second line have been crossed off and "Not/Authorized" has been written in unknown hand at right margin. Also signed by a representative of Antoinette Productions, Inc. We could find no record of this show airing. In October 1977, Rowan and Martin appeared on an episode of Tattletales. DAN ROWAN (1922-1987) and his partner DICK MARTIN (born in 1922) are best known as the zany hosts/performers on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In (1968-1973), the wildly popular show that featured such performers as Ruth Buzzi, Goldie Hawn, Arte Johnson, Lily Tomlin and JoAnne Worley. The two had previously hosted The Dean Martin Summer Show (1966-1967) and appeared together in two films, Once Upon a Horse (1958) and The Maltese Bippy (1969). Rowan had been a Hollywood scriptwriter before he met Martin, a TV and film actor. Slightly creased. Staple holes at upper left corner. Usual black marks from photocopying at lower margins. Fine condition.
