ROY BOEHM
Inscribed color photo, shown in dress uniform with his wife
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To/Del/Best Wishes/from/Roy
& Susan/Boehm/". Color, 8x10. Accompanied by unsigned copy of his
printed calling card. Roy Boehm (1924-2008) was a US Navy diver during
World War II, participating in many of the major Pacific battles. In the
1950s, he trained in demolition, and tested underwater equipment. In May
1961, President Kennedy called for creation of Navy commando units, and the
first team of SEALS (Sea, Air and Land Teams) was formed that December, with
Boehm as leader of Seal Team Two. He saw action again in Korea and
Vietnam, earning the moniker "Father of the Navy SEALS". Boehm did
not live to see his SEALS kill Osama Bin Laden, but his efforts helped make that
triumph possible. Adhesive residue on front (not seen head on). Corners lightly
worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
