ROY ORBISON The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is shown in a scene in a scene from The Fastest Guitar Alive, the one and only movie that he starred in Photograph signed: "Roy Orbison". B/w, 10x8 overall, image 9½x6¾ (one surface). Pictured in a scene from 1968's The Fastest Guitar Alive, the one and only movie starring role of the rock balladeer and songwriter. Orbison starred as Johnny Banner, a Confederate spy who keeps his rifle hidden in his guitar, and the film also featured Sammy Jackson, as his partner, Steve, and Maggie Pierce and Joan Freeman as Flo and Sue, two dance-hall girls. Orbison (1935-1988) had 15 Top 40 hits between 1960 and 1965, including his first, "Only the Lonely", and biggest, "Pretty Woman" (1964). Orbison won five Grammy Awards, including Best Country Performance (Duo or Group with Vocal) with Emmylou Harris) for "That Lovin' You Feelin' Again" (1980) and Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male for  "(Oh,) Pretty Woman" (1990). His earlier music was popular again by the 1980s, and Orbison was in the midst of a successful comeback when he died of a heart attack in 1988, the year after he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
