Words and Music to the song, "I Never Had a Chance", written by Fred Rose and recorded for Victor Records. ©1947, Milene Music, Nashville. Rogers recorded a number of popular songs, including "Tumbling Tumbleweeds" and "Candy Kisses". A founding member of the Western music group, Sons of the Pioneers (1934), Roy Rogers (1911-1998), born Leonard Slye, broke into films as a singing cowboy the following year. Beginning in 1938, he had starring roles in dozens of Western films. His horse was Trigger, his frequent sidekick was Gabby Hayes and his frequent co-star was Dale Evans, whom he married in 1947. Rogers, who starred on his own TV series from 1951-1957), was a devoted husband and father. He was also a successful businessman with wide-ranging holdings, including a TV production company, a restaurant chain and a number of Western products. Lightly creased. Worn at corners and upper edge of front cover. Slightly shaded at margins of inside pages. Overall, fine condition.
