(1932-2008, born in Orange, NJ) had over 80 TV shows and movies to

Police Chief Martin Brody in Jaws (1975). Trained in college dramatics,
he made his professional stage debut in 1961, playing Mercutio in the New York
Shakespeare festival production of Romeo and Juliet. He spent several
years in repertory playing mainly classic roles, winning an Obie in 1968, and
made his first film appearance in 1964's Curse of the Living Corpse.
Scheider had starred in several movies, including The French
Connection (1971) as Det. Buddy Russo and The Seven Ups (1973)
before his appearance in Jaws, which only increased his star power,
appearing in such movies as Marathon Man (1976), Blue Thunder
(1982) and 2010 (1984), as well as numerous TV appearances, including the
lead in SeaQuest DSV from 1993 to 1995. He continued working up to his
death, with two movies, Iron Cross and Dark Honeymoon, in
post-production at the time of his death. Corners and edges lightly worn.
