Goldberg/Apr. 10 1929", 1p, 6¾x3¼. In 1915, Rube Goldberg created
"Boob", a comic strip featuring a young man whose interest in other people often
got him into trouble. The strip was syndicated by Hearst from 1918-1933. Reuben
Lucius Goldberg (1883-1970) created "Boob" (1915), a comic strip

creations of the engineer turned cartoonist was Professor Lucifer Butts, famous
for his inventions of mechanical contrivances of absurdly unnecessary
complexity. Webster's dictionary even added "rube goldberg" to its
lexicon. Theta Tau, an engineering
fraternity at Purdue University, hosts an annual "Rube Goldberg Machine Contest,
which attracts nationwide attention.
Goldberg was awarded the 1948 Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning
for a work entitled "Peace Today". 2 pinhead-size stains at lower blank
area. Vertical fold touches word balloon. Pencil note on verso (unknown hand)
lightly shows through at upper blank area. Fine condition.
