fighter RUBEN OLIVARES (b. 1947) was world bantamweight champ (1969-1972), and
briefly held the WBA and WBC featherweight titles (1974-1975). He retired in1981 with a
record of 88-13-3, with 78 knockouts, and entered the International Boxing Hall of Fame
ten years later. BOBBY CHACON (1951-2016) was world featherweight boxing champion
(1974-1975) and Super Featherweight Champion (1982). A heavy puncher, Chacon won 59
fights, 47 by knockout, while losing only seven. He was The Ring magazine's 1982
comeback fighter of the year. Olivares and Chacon met three times in the ring, with
Olivares prevailing in 1973 and 1975 and Chacon taking their final bout by a unanimous
decision in 1977. Their first two fights were for the featherweight title, however. Fine
condition.
