B/w, 10½x13½. Actress and dancer Ruby Keeler (1910-1993) was featured in Ziegfeld's
Whoopee! (1928). She starred with William Powell in a series of film musicals, including
42nd Street (1933). She was married to Al Jolson (1928-1940), co-starring with him in Go
Into Your Dance. After the death of her second husband, John Homer Lowe, she made a
triumphal return to Broadway in a Busby Berkeley revival of No, No Nanette (1971-1973).
Although not inscribed to A. M. "Doc" Salomon, this photo was part of his collection.Salomon, a friend of studio mogul Jack Warner who rose to head the London branch of
Warner Bros. studios, compiled an extensive collection of celebrity autographs during his
nearly 30 years with the studio. A V-1 rocket demolished his London studio in July 1944
and killed Salomon, but his photo collection miraculously survived. Minor surface creases.
Edges lightly toned. Signature light and beaded but legible. Otherwise, fine condition.
