Program signed: "Rudolf Serkin", in purple ink, 5¾x9. 14
pages. Program for a New York Philharmonic performance on May 27, 1982. Pianist
Rudolf Serkin (1903-1991) had made his debut with the Vienna Symphony
Orchestra at the age of 12. Although he was recognized for his
interpretations of a number of composers - and won a 1983 Grammy for Best
Chamber Music Performance - Serkin was also known for being one of the
most influential piano teachers of the post-WWII era. In addition to his
work with students at the Curtis Institute, Serkin also devoted his summers to
encouraging young musicians at the Marlboro Festival in Vermont. Slightly
toned. Light surface creases. Ink marking on top left corner of program. Binding
on verso creased and lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
