RUDOLPH MARCUS
First Day Cover signed: "Rudy Marcus", 6½x3½. FDC honoring chemistry, 13-cent stamp affixed, postmarked New York, N.Y., April 6, 1976, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Born in Canada in 1923, Marcus is a naturalized U.S. citizen. He claims to have switched from laboratory work to theoretical - mostly mathematical - chemistry because he kept breaking lab equipment. Marcus won the 1992 Nobel Prize for Chemistry for his work on the theory of electron-transfer reactions in chemical systems. The Marcus theory shed light on diverse and fundamental phenomena such as photosynthesis, cell metabolism, and simple corrosion. Fine condition.
