The Surgeon General of the United States writes a short letter for
the holiday season.
Autograph Letter signed: "Rupert Blue", 1 page, 5x6. No
place, December 1937. Written "To Mary Ford", in full: "May
this holiday season and the New Year bring to you and Jack much happiness.
Washington, D.C." Rupert Blue (1868-1948) was born in Richmond County,
North Carolina. He received his M.D. from the University of Maryland (1892)
and was commissioned as an assistant surgeon in the Marine Hospital Corps in
1893. He served as Surgeon General of the United States (1912-1920) and
president of the American Medical Association (1916-1917). Lightly frayed
at left edge. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
