TLS: "Rupert Hughes", 1p, 73/4x91/2.
Los Angeles, 1927 January 11. To Prof. J. Helder, Newark, N.J. In
full: "Your letter of January 5th has just come. I am exceedingly sorry
to hear that fortune has not relented. I plan to leave here about the 18th
or 20th of this month. I shall be at the Biltmore Hotel for a time, but as I
shall do some travelling, perhaps you had better address me in care of my
publishers, William Morrow, 303 Fifth Avenue. Hoping that
something may turn up to improve your fortune." RUPERT HUGHES, the uncle and
mentor of Howard Hughes, was an author, screenwriter and composer who wrote more
than 50 books. One of his most controversial works was a three-volume
biography depicting the human side of George Washington. Lightly creased, paper
clip impression in upper left blank margin. Overall, fine condition.
