RUSS MORGAN and CISCO ANDRADE
Russ Morgan, the band leader and Cisco Andrade, the California boxer both write notes to radio/TV interview host George Sanders.
Autograph Note signed: "Best Wishes/To George/From a musician that 'digs'/a good performer!/Sincerely/Russ (The Ol' Coal/Miner)/Morgan/4-21-58" and on verso: "To My Very/Good Friend George 'The Mouth'/Sanders, From Your Very/Good Friend,/Sincerely/Cisco Andrade/4-25-58", 7¾x10. Newspaper clipping of Morgan with photo (b/w, 3½x1¼ overall, image 1x1) affixed at bottom center. Photo of Cisco with radio personality and autograph collector George Sanders (b/w, 3½x3) affixed in lower left verso. RUSS MORGAN (1904-1969) was a successful music arranger, composer, pianist and big band leader who achieved great popularity with radio audiences into the 1950s. His show "Music in the Morgan Manner" was one of the most popular shows on radio. In 1936, having spent his early career performing in various big band orchestras, Morgan was inspired by Rudy Vallee, whom he met while at Brunswick Records, to start his own band, The Russ Morgan Orchestra. He had success throughout the 1940's and 50's, continuing to perform in Las Vegas for several years until his death in 1969. ANDRADE, a California boxer, contended for the lightweight title in the 1950s and 1960s, compiling a 46-11-1 record. George R. Sanders, originally a disc jockey, became a prominent radio/TV interview host, first in Los Angeles and later in Portland. Slightly frayed left edge. Andrade photo and Morgan clipping show through lightly. Otherwise, fine condition.
