verso, is from the estate of the late actress.

28. On New York Times letterhead to "Dear Miss Hart". In full: "I'm glad if I helped improve
a bad night for you - and saddened to have missed The Kiss. My memories of you go back to seeing
you up against the Marx Brothers, so you will know it's been a long romance. All best". Russell
Baker (1925-2019) wrote his nationally syndicated "Observer" column in the New York
Times from 1962 to 1998. He hosted public television's Masterpiece Theatre from 1992 to
2004. Baker won two Pulitzer Prizes, won for his "Observer" column (1979), the other
for his autobiography Growing Up (1982). Baker resides in Leesburg, Virginia.This letter is
addressed to, and was in the estate of, versatile singer, actress and TV personality Kitty
Carlisle (1910-2007), who was still performing a one-woman show as late as 2006. She was
married to playwright Moss Hart until his death in 1961. The actress appeared in two Marx
Brothers films, including A Night at the Opera (1935). Lightly toned. Fine condition.
