RUTH MILLER
The stage and screen actress writes to Theatre World editor John Willis, making changes to her résumé.
Typed Letter signed: "Ruth Miller", 1 page, 8½x5. To "Dear Mr. [John] Willis", in full: "Thank you for wishing to include me in Theatre World. If it necessitates putting down my birthdate, I just can't bear to do it. While I was standby for Phyllis Thaxter this past year in the tour of Gin Game, my Broadway debut is as a teen-ager in the opening sequence of Come Back to the Five and Dime. That suits me just fine." Ruth Miller is an American stage a film actress who had appearances in a few popular 1980's films, including Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean (1982) and Hard Choices (1985). Making her screen debut in Barracuda (1978), Miller is also known for The Alarmist (1997), Beyond the Pale (2000) and Stephen King's Thinner (1996). John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from its inception in 1945, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Lightly creased. Staple holes in top left corner. Pencil note (unknown hand) in lower margin. Fine condition.
