Photograph signed: "Sincerely/Ruth Taylor", signed in white ink. Sepia, 7½x9½. Actress Ruth
Taylor (1908-1984) is best known for her role as Lorelei Lee in the 1928 film version of
Anita Loos' Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. The actress/comedienne, who signed with Mack
Sennett in 1925, had made her film debut in 1918 in Jack Spurlock, Prodigal, and would
appear in a number of silents and "talkies" through 1934. Taylor is the mother of
actor/screenwriter Buck Henry (born in 1930), who wrote the screenplays for such films as
The Graduate (1967) and What's Up, Doc?, wrote for several TV shows, including the 1995
series, Get Smart, and appeared in a number of feature films. Pencil notes (unknown hand) and
typed biography affixed to verso. Lightly silvered, else fine condition.
