Autograph letter signed "Ryan". 1 page, 5¼x8¼, on O'Neal's
personalized stationery. Dated May 7. Addressed to "Mr Fegley". In
full: "Dear Mr Fegley - Please believe me when I tell you I did
not receive your first letter. All my mail is answered - even though
there is frequently a delay. Letters are lost some-times and I'm sorry
you were disappointed - perhaps this will help to make up for it - and thank you
for writing a second time." O'Neal, born Charles Patrick Ryan O'Neal
in Los Angeles in 1941, is an Oscar-nominated American actor. His first
major role was that of Rodney Harrington on the television soap opera,
Peyton Place (1964-1969). He got his big break when he was
chosen from 300 auditioners to play Oliver Barrett opposite Ally McGraw
in the adaptation of Erich Seagal's best-seller Love Story (1970).
The film was a smash hit and landed O'Neal an Oscar nomination. Some of
his other films include What's Up Doc? (1972), Paper Moon (1973,
the film netted his co-star and real-life daughter, Tatum O'Neal, an
Oscar), Barry Lyndon (1975), Oliver's Story (1978) and The
Main Event (1979). Lightly toned and creased, otherwise in fine
condition.
