SALLY RAND
Image of an older Rand chatting with radio/TV interview host George Sanders
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To/George Sanders/your fan/Sally/Rand". B/w, 8x10. Exotic dancer and actress SALLY RAND(1904-1979), born Harriet Beck, was given her screen name by Cecil B. de Mille when she appeared in silent films of the 1920s. Her dance performances at the Chicago World's Fair (1933) were a national sensation. Rand tantalized male viewers while dancing behind a fan or large bubble. "The Rand is quicker than the eye," she liked to say. She did her fan dance in the film Bolero (1934). George Sanders, shown in this picture inscribed to him, was an interview host in Los Angeles and later Portland. He collected autographs from guests on his show. Creased (not visible head on). Otherwise, fine condition.
