Senior Tour in 1982, Casper won nine tournaments, including the U.S. Senior Open (1983)
and the Senior Players Championship (1988). Known for his excellent putting skills, Casper
also won the Canadian Open (1967) and was on the U. S. Ryder Cup team eight times (he
was non-playing team captain in 1979). Inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1978
and the PGA Hall of Fame in 1982, Casper is now involved with the design and
management of golf courses across the U. S. BOROS (1920-1994) won 15 PGA
tournaments. His best years were 1952 and 1963; in each of those years, he won the U.S.
Open, led the tour in winnings and was named Player of the Year. His 1963 PGA win
came in an exciting 18-hole playoff in which he bested Jackie Cupit by three strokes and
Arnold Palmer by six. In 1968, Boros won the PGA Tournament, becoming the oldest
player ever to win one of the majors. He was elected to the PGA Hall of Fame in 1984.
"Slammin' Sammy" SNEAD (1912-2002) won both the Masters and the PGA three times
and the British Open once. In 1965, Snead passed Boros' record, becoming the oldest player
(52 years, 10 months) to win a PGA tournament (the Greater Greensboro Open). Snead,
who compiled a record 84 PGA victories (although the U.S. Open eluded him) was inducted
into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1953. LITTLER (born in 1930) won 29 PGA Tour
events between 1954 and 1977, including the U.S. Open in 1961. He won eight additional
events after joining the Senior Tour in 1981. Littler was nicknamed "Gene the machine" for
the smooth tempo of his golf swing. Four items. Framed in Gallery of History style to
29¾x26¾.
