Sammy Baugh (1914-2008), a two-time All-American at Texas Christian, was the Washington Redskins quarterback from 1937-1952. Noted as a premier passer who influenced a great offensive revolution, he was the NFL passing, punting and interception champ in 1943. History's top punter, his career records are: 21,886 yards, 186 TDs passing, 45.1-yard punting average. In 1999, the Associated Press ranked him as the third greatest NFL player of the twentieth century. Four years later, "The Sporting News" ranked him "merely" eleventh. He starred in the film King of the Texas Rangers (1941). After a stint as a collegiate and professional football coach, Baugh retired to his cattle ranch in Rotan, Texas. Lightly creased at upper margin. Fine condition.
