Typed letter signed: "S[ammy]", 1 page, 5¾x7½, framed to an overall size of 8x10¼. March 2, 1983. New York City, New York. In full: "Dear Chuck- Is there no escape? So there I was going around the horn as we are won't to say in TV land, when lo & behold there you were in ROOTS!!! YOU ARE ONE MEAN SON OF A BITCH!!! Here I am at address bottom right for the BIG night at The Songwriter's Hall of Fame March 7th at the Waldorf. (I will be getting their highest honor which is The Mercer - for Johnny!) Then the ASCAP meets and then back to address bottom left! If the rains havn't washed it away! Keep dry thoughts,----". Lyricist Sammy Cahn (1913-1993) won Academy Awards for Best Song for "Three Coins in the Fountain" (1954), "All the Way" (1957), "High Hopes" (1959) and "Call Me Irresponsible" (1963). His Emmy came with "Love and Marriage" (1955). Among Cahn's many other songs are "Let It Snow" and "Come Fly With Me." Often collaborating with Jule Styne, he was a principal songwriter for Frank Sinatra. He is enshrined in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Not framed in Gallery of History style. Sticker on glass of frame. Fine condition.
