Humphrey) for the White House Photographers' Awards, Thursday Night, May 19, at the Sheraton Park Hotel where Sammy Davis Jr. performed with Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong and Eydie Gorme sang. Considered by many as the "World's Greatest Living Performer" during the height of his career, SAMMY DAVIS, JR. (1925-1990) was a versatile performer, winning popularity on both sides of the color barrier for his acting, singing, dancing and impersonations. A member of the famed "Rat Pack", Davis appeared with Sinatra and friends in Ocean's 11 in 1960, nine years before his acclaimed performance in Sweet Charity. Nominated for a Tony Award for Golden Boy (1974), Davis also had a number of hit records, including "Love Me or Leave Me", "That Old Black Magic", "What Kind of Fool Am I?" and "The Candy Man". Singer EYDIE GORME (1928-2013) was a regular on Steve Allen's Tonight Show (1954-1957), marrying Steve Lawrence, a fellow cast member. She was a very popular TV guest star, peaking in the 1960s and 1970s. She won two Grammys, the first with husband Lawrence for Pop Duo (1960), the second on her own for best Female Pop Vocal ("If He Walked Into My Life", 1966). She had her biggest hit, "Blame It on the Bossa Nova" in 1963. Pencil note (unknown hand) in upper right. Staple holes in upper left. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
