SAMUEL GOLDWYN, JR.
Son of the legendary producer signs a payroll check for the
production The Heat's On
Partly Printed Check signed: "Samuel Goldwyn, Jr.", 8½x3¼.
Formosa Productions, Inc., New York, New York, 1972 March 31. On "'The
Heat's On'" payroll account. Payable to Willie Moore for $192.30,
endorsed by him on verso: "Willie Moore". The Heat's On is
the book that producer Goldwyn's 1972 film, Come Back Charleston Blue,
was based on.
Samuel Goldwyn, Jr. (1926-2015) continued in his
father's footsteps, making films like Cotton Comes to Harlem (1970),
Mystic Pizza (1988) and Master and Commander (2003). Several of
his films, such as The Preacher's Wife (1996), have been remakes or
tributes to films made by his father. Goldwyn, Jr. said this of his dad: "With
every picture he made, my father raised the money, paid back the bank, and kept
control of the negative." Usual bank cancellation stamps touching "S" of Samuel
on front. Bank stamp on verso touches "Will" of Willie of endorsement.
Otherwise, fine condition.
