SAMUEL GOLDWYN. TLS: "Sam", 1p, 7¼x10½. No place, 1967 September 5. To actress Joan Crawford. In part: "It was very nice of you to send me the Leonard Lyons column, but then you are always nice. I am still a fan of yours and hope to be for many years to come. I have nothing but the pleasantest memories of you." Nominated for seven Academy Awards for Best Picture, GOLDWYN won in 1947 for The Best Years of Our Lives. He is one of the few winners of both the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial and Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Awards. Signed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1925, JOAN CRAWFORD refused to continue working for M-G-M in 1943 because of poor roles, resulting in a lengthy suspension. She finally left the studio, signing on with Warners in 1944 at about a third of her former salary. Lightly creased. Pinhead-stain touches 1 letter of typed text. Blue ink underline of Lyons reference (unknown hand). Fine condition.
