22. To "Dear Mr. Seau", in full: "I kept your letter by me
for a day or two to see if I could arrange to get away. I am horribly sorry I
can't manage it. It is a huge honour and so I feel it. I shall be in the 'deio
thraws' [?] of an Ayrshire book which is to follow 'The Men of the Moss
Hags' in the Graphic here & Harper's in America. I may be in Ayr some week
before long & may see you. Pray convey to the Association my heartiest
greetings. [signature] P.S. I have seen nothing of the Cowpers since Mr.
Cowper's death, but I hear that they are all well & doing first rate.

His third novel, The Men of the Moss Hags, mentioned in this letter, was
published in 1895. Toned at edges. Mailing fold through center. Edges lightly
frayed. Otherwise, fine condition.
