Profile photograph (5x7) of the Argentinian mezzo-soprano signed and inscribed to a fan. Dated in 1935. Extremely rare!
Inscribed photograph signed: "[in Spanish, not translated] Al secer Rodolfo Albierto Ashti/cous recedido/Sara Ceasr/B. Aires/Abril 16/1935" in black ink, B/w, 5x7. Dated April 16, 1935. Mezzo-soprano Sara César was born Sara Oliveira Cézar in Buenos Aires (1892-1984). She made her professional debut in 1912 at the Teatro Politeama as Amneris in Aida (Verdi). She then travelled to Italy where she perform roles in La Gioconda (1917), Mefistofele (1918) and Die Walkure (1919) in which she performed her most famous role Brünnhilde. She returned to Buenos Aires in the early 1920s where she continued performing until her retirement in the early 1940s. Until her death in 1984, she was a teacher and voice coach. Lightly bowed. Photographer's stamp on verso. Corners slightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
